The Pawn Shop Script Book

I’m ecstatic to report that we’re nearly 100% funded in our Pawn Shop Kickstarter campaign — at the time of this writing just over $400 to go — and so we’re making the final push to make sure that happens this week, so we can start shelling out some awesome stretch goals! As incentive to get everyone to continue sharing our project, pledging, and perhaps even upping their pledges, we’re offering a free digital download of the Pawn Shop Script Book to all backers $10+ — but only if we’re fully funded by Friday, August 10.

The Script Book will include my handwritten notes and rough drafts along with the final typed draft to compare it to, in addition to some of Sean’s sketches and layouts. The idea is to paint a full picture of the creative process and the evolution of the Pawn Shop story. Like so:

Check out the post on Kickstarter for more examples of what you’ll be seeing in the book. Thanks to everyone for their support so far, and we hope you’ll keep up the awesome support!

Footprints TPB Now Available at the 215 Ink Shop

I know there’s been some delays/trouble getting the Footprints collected edition through your local comic shops for some of you, so now you can cut out the middle man if need be. The trade is available for sale at the 215 Ink Shop, direct from the publisher.

Please drop me a line if you order it and let me know what you think!

Another Reason to Buy Grim Leaper

Exciting news! Friend and Image Comics rising star Kurtis Wiebe (Green Wake, Intrepids, Peter Panzerfaust) has got a great new book coming next month with Grim Leaper — a gory romantic comedy about a guy who keeps dying and waking up in the body of strangers that meets a woman with a similar curse. It’s all very romantical and bloody, and features art from Aluisio Santos.

But, I’m elated to say that the Jack Kirby/Joe Simon Young Romance homage comic that Jeff McComsey and I did will be featured as a back-up story in issue #1, which releases on May 30th.

Kurtis talks about the book on the Comic Book Road Show, also revealing other contributors including Ed Brisson, Jeremy Holt, and Ryan K. Lindsay, all contributing to “More Love Stories to Die For.” We’re all really excited, so be sure to tell your LCS you want it bad!

Footprints Honorable Mention in USA Today’s ‘Best of 2011’

I’m about to type a sentence I didn’t think I would be:

FOOTPRINTS was given an honorable mention in USA Today‘s Best of 2011 feature in the “Best Comic You Might Not Be Reading” category. Holy crap! Not to mention that we’re mentioned alongside some of my favorite indie books at the moment (all of them from Image Comics)  — Kurtis Wiebe and Riley Rossimo’s Green Wake, Joshua Fialkov and Brent Peeples’ Last of the Greats, and the winner: Mark Andrew Smith and Armand Villavert’s Gladstone’s School for World Conquerors.

I’m honored and elated to be listed alongside these folks and I hope this inspires some people to check out our book. Speaking of which, there’s only one week left to pre-order the Footprints trade paperback, so if you haven’t done it yet, tell your LCS! We’re in the Previews catalog on page 321, or you can order us online from Midtown Comics, TFAW, or any other online comics retailer.

Thanks to everyone for all of their support this year; here’s hoping 2012 will be even bigger!
