With 47 hours to go on the Kickstarter and counting, we’ve come to the final installment of the Footprints: Bad Luck Charm page process blogs! If you haven’t checked out the other installments, here you go: Page 1, Page 2, Page 3, Page 4, Page 5.
Once again, this page was drawn more or less as written in terms of panel descriptions, but Jonathan did add an extra panel between the scripted 6.2 and 6.3; there’s a close-up of ‘Resa’s reaction and thus Adam moved her “Oh, really?!” line to that added panel. This works better because it gives more care to her emotional change and segues better into her dive bomb, rather than having that turn be on a dime. It sets up her physical reaction to Devil’s stupidity nicely.
One little tweak that Adam made to the last panel was the “sigh” before Devil says “Dames.” I’ve rarely worked with other letterers, and part of that is because Adam is always looking to help tweak things as much as possible, and this is a small but important example. In this way, I really consider him an editor on a lot of things that we do.
Also, you’ll notice that I included two versions of the final lettered page. They are identical, save for the credits in the last panel. The first version is the “real” version with the full creator credits as they’ll likely appear in the finish printed book. The other version, however, is the page we distributed to the press for posting on the web.
In addition to changing up the color scheme of the logo design, Adam condensed the creator credits and added a plug for the Kickstarter. The idea was to hopefully lead anyone that read the story — and presumably enjoyed it — back to the campaign to hopefully kick in some funds.
There’s very little time left, so please pledge to our Kickstarter, even if it’s just $1! There are a lot of cool stretch goals that we’re looking to hit, and only 47 hours left to hit them in!
